Skype adds end-to-end encryption security adds Veja também add

Skype has been one of the most popular chat applications in the world since it was launched in 2003. In fact, Skype is considered the “go to” application when it comes to official video calls, such as job interviews. However, this last standard of years has not been so good for Skype since the chat application has been losing some of its popularity because apps like WhatsApp have joined the market.

The reason Skype’s popularity has declined is because WhatsApp is focused on providing users with high-level security through end-to-end encryption security systems. Fortunately for Skype users, it seems that the developers responsible for the application have decided that it is time for Skype to also present end-to-end encryption.

Private Conversations
Skype is introducing a new feature called Private Conversations. As we can clearly tell from the feature title, it was developed with the sole purpose of giving Skype users a way to communicate with each other without worrying about third parties “listening” to the conversation or intercepting the media content they they share.

Not a default feature
On the other hand, Private Conversations is not set by default and users must manually enable it every time they want to use it. Not only that, but the intended recipient needs to accept the private conversation and users can only have one active conversation at a time.

Hide notifications
Another interesting thing about Private Conversations is that it will hide the contents of the notifications and the chat list so that no one can peek at the user’s cell phone screen and see who they are talking to. However, this is a great addition to and we can only expect it to be set as the default in the future.
